A flexible authentication system is described herein that fluidly switches between a federated authentication model and a local short-lived token model that does not require sophisticated authentication infrastructure at the relying party site. Upon detecting an event that causes the identity provider to be unavailable for authentication, the relying party switches to a temporary token model. The system generates a bearer token or challenge associated with the user's identity and (optionally) associated with time data that limits the period during which the token is valid. The relying party communicates the short-lived token to the user using contact information associated with the user and already stored by the relying party. Upon receiving the short-lived token, the user provides the short-lived token to the relying party, and the relying party processes the token to validate the user's identity and then allows the user to access the relying party's online services.

In an example embodiment, the system obtains the mutual inductance (e.g., Mij) between a quiet I/O buffer and each switching I/O buffer on a PLD from an automatic SSN measurement system. The system calculates the corrected mutual inductance between the quiet I/O buffer and each switching I/O buffer by multiplying the mutual inductance by a correction factor (e.g., αj). The system multiplies each corrected mutual inductance by the rate of current flowing through the switching I/O buffer to obtain an induced voltage resulting from the switching I/O buffer. The system sums the induced voltages for all the switching I/O buffers on the PLD to obtain an estimate of total induced voltage caused in the quiet I/O buffer by all switching I/O buffers. The correction factor is based on bench measurements and depends on the amplitude of the simultaneous switching noise affecting each switching I/O buffer.

The present disclosure is directed towards systems and methods for allocating a bandwidth credit or an annuity of bandwidth credit to a sender by an intermediary deployed between the sender and a receiver. The sender may be allocated a bandwidth credit or an annuity of bandwidth credit which may identify an amount of data the sender may transmit over a predetermined time period to the receiver, via the intermediary. The intermediary may determine an allocation of a one-time bandwidth credit based on the determination that a difference between the rate of transmission of the sender and the bandwidth usage of the sender falls below a predetermined threshold of the bandwidth credit. The intermediary may determine an annuity of bandwidth credit based on a determination that a difference between the bandwidth usage of the sender over the annuity period and the annuity of bandwidth credit exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Systems and methods for providing accelerated data storage and retrieval utilizing lossless data compression and decompression. A data storage accelerator includes one or a plurality of high speed data compression encoders that are configured to simultaneously or sequentially losslessly compress data at a rate equivalent to or faster than the transmission rate of an input data stream. The compressed data is subsequently stored in a target memory or other storage device whose input data storage bandwidth is lower than the original input data stream bandwidth. Similarly, a data retrieval accelerator includes one or a plurality of high speed data decompression decoders that are configured to simultaneously or sequentially losslessly decompress data at a rate equivalent to or faster than the input data stream from the target memory or storage device. The decompressed data is then output at rate data that is greater than the output rate from the target memory or data storage device. The data storage and retrieval accelerator method and system may employed: in a disk storage adapter to reduce the time required to store and retrieve data from computer to disk; in conjunction with random access memory to reduce the time required to store and retrieve data from random access memory; in a display controller to reduce the time required to send display data to the display controller or processor; and/or in an input/output controller to reduce the time required to store, retrieve, or transmit data.

A system receives streaming media data and stores the received data in a buffer to fill the buffer. The system selectively extracts the received data from the buffer to begin playback of the streaming media data. The system further analyzes remaining media data in the buffer, to identify a location in the buffer that stores an inactive period in the media data, when the buffer is emptied to a certain percentage of its capacity. The system also halts playback and re-fills the buffer with received streaming media data when the buffer reaches the location in the buffer and selectively extracts the received data from the buffer to resume playback of the streaming media data.

Methods relate to providing limited temporary access to a web site to visitors who desire to experience all the features provided by this site before becoming a member. The temporary access privileges may be limited by duration, which is counted from the initial access request, or by number of accesses. At the end of the temporary access period, the visitor may be given additional access privileges before being permanently denied access. The user may be identified either by the IP address assigned to the user device or by the user's e-mail address.

The present invention is a system for and method of providing instruction sequence compounding by (1) the virtual machine monitor's (VMM) looking ahead when an initial trap (exception) event occurs and recognizing traps within successive nearby instructions, combining and virtually executing the effects of multiple instructions while remaining inside the VMM's trap handler, and thereby minimizing the number of individual traps that would otherwise occur at each instruction and/or (2) the VMM's looking ahead when an initial context switch event occurs and recognizing context switches within successive nearby instructions, virtually combining the effects of multiple instructions and handing off this combined instruction to the host operating system, and thereby minimizing the number of individual context switches that would otherwise occur at each instruction. As a result, the number of processor cycles is reduced for exception handling and context switching in a virtual machine environment.

An email system comprises a plurality of email servers connected by a data communications network. The email system avoids single points of failure by employing multiple email servers which self configure, without requiring dedicated servers, through self addressing and discovery and announcement protocols. An email server can act as a primary email server by executing an administration tool allowing an administrator to modify the configuration data set which the email servers utilize, and the primary email server will then announce the resulting change in the version level of the configuration data set to other email servers. Each email server will then determine and request any needed updates to its respective configuration data set from the primary email server or another email server.

A computer-implemented method for rating a current instance of data is described. An activity occurring on a computing system is monitored. The activity includes the current instance of data. A rating is assigned to the current instance of data. A determination is made as to whether the activity includes at least one additional instance of data. When the activity includes at least one additional instance of data, the rating assigned to the current instance of data is updated. The updated rating is based on the content of the at least one additional instance of data.

Some embodiments provide different frameworks for seamlessly issuing and executing commands across servers of different federation participants. Each framework facilitates issuance and execution of a command that originates from a first federation participant and that is intended for execution at servers of a second federation participant. In some embodiments, a framework implements a method for enabling command interoperability between distributed platforms that each operate a set of servers on behalf of content providers. The method involves receiving a command targeting a particular configuration that a first distributed platform deploys to a server that is operated by a second distributed platform. The method identifies the server of the second distributed platform that is deployed with the particular configuration. The method communicably couples to a command invocation system of the second distributed platform and issues the command to the command invocation system for issuance of the command to the identified server.

An electronic apparatus includes a plurality of communication units including a first communication unit which communicates via a first communication network and a second communication unit which communicates via a second communication network. The electronic apparatus acquires presence information indicating a communication state of a communication apparatus from a presence server managing a communication state of a communication apparatus on a communication network, via at least one communication network. The electronic apparatus acquires presence information of an alternative communication apparatus being as a communication apparatus which communicates via the second communication network in place of the second communication unit included in itself. The electronic apparatus determines as to whether the alternate communication apparatus is in an online state, based on the acquired presence information. The electronic apparatus suppresses electric power to be consumed by the second communication unit, when the alternate communication apparatus is in an online state.
