An unsprung state detection part (140) calculates a variation amount X (=|φ−φ′|), which is a magnitude of a difference between a detected angle φ output from a resolver rotational angle sensor (40) for detecting a rotational angle of an in-wheel motor (30) and an estimated angle φ′ of a motor rotational angle (S11 to S13). The estimated angle φ′ can be calculated by adding an estimated angle of the rotation of the motor (30) in one calculation cycle to a detected angle φn−1 of the previous calculation cycle. When the variation amount X is more than a road surface determination threshold Xref, the unsprung state detection part (140) determines that the travel road on which a vehicle (1) is traveling is a rough road (S14, S15). As a result, the road surface determination can be made by using the rotational angle sensor (40).

A combination of repeaters and relays is used to improve the data throughput for user equipment (“UE”) near the cell edge in a LTE network. Amplify-and-forward repeaters and decode-and-forward relays enhance the down-link and up-link, respectively. Relay assistance on the up-link occurs when the evolved Node B (“eNB”) requests a retransmission (HARQ) from the UE at which point the UE and relay transmit simultaneously in a cooperative fashion. The quality of the up-link signal received by the eNB is improved due to a favorable channel through the relay. An analysis shows that relay assistance improves the throughput for a cell-edge user when the average delay per data transport block is allowed to increase.

An example method is provided in one example embodiment and may include receiving an indication of a radio access technology (RAT) change for a user equipment (UE); determining availability of a preferred RAT type for a policy related rule associated with the UE, wherein the policy related rule includes, at least in part, the preferred RAT type for one or more service data flows for the UE; and configuring the one or more service data flows for the UE based, at least in part, on a change in availability of the preferred RAT type following the RAT change. In at least one case, the method can include routing downlink packets to the UE using the one or more service data flows for the preferred RAT type if the preferred RAT type is available.

A system and method to allow call traffic localization within a mobile switching center server pool (MSS pool) or between MSS pools, provides a trunk group identifier mapped to an originating media gateway. An originating mobile switching center server (MSC server) initiates a call session with a terminating MSC server by sending a session initiation protocol (SIP) message that includes a trunk group identifier mapped to an originating media gateway identity. The terminating MSC server examines the mapping received in the SIP message, and uses the trunk group identifier to select a terminating media gateway for call routing to realize call traffic localization.

In one embodiment, a portable, networked, computing device comprises a processor, a plurality of radios, and a memory. The device may be operable to pair, by at least one of the radios, with a device associated with a user. The device may then monitor, by one of the radios, a signal for a connection established with a first network. When the device determines that the signal for the first network has dropped below a threshold level of quality, it may enable access point mode for at least one of the paired devices by turning on a radio to establish a connection with a second network and thereby providing connectivity to the second network for the at least one of the paired devices. If multiple networks are available, the device may select an optimal network based on an assessment of one or more factors.

A target communications device receiving from a source communications device a notification that a user communications device is to be handed over from that source communications device, provides the source communications device with multiple component carrier information for use by the user communications device. The multiple component carrier information includes information indicating to the user communications device which of the multiple component carriers is to be used for initial access. The multiple component carrier information may be component carrier indexes. Communication devices may exchange component carrier indexes during a setup or updating procedure such as an X2 setup or updating procedure.

A network-side device and a macro base station to micro base station switching method relate to a universal mobile telecommunications system. The method includes: multiplexing part of scrambling codes in reserved scrambling codes to micro base station cells, and configuring them to a user equipment; a network side creating a SNF−SFN relation list between various base station cells according to existing determined neighbor cell relations and cell synchronization information in a measurement report by the user equipment; when the user equipment reports a switching measurement report of a target cell, the network side determining a target cell in actual switching and performing the switching according to the scrambling code information in the switching measurement report, TM and OFF information in the cell synchronization information and the SFN−SFN relation list. The embodiment of the present invention further discloses a network-side device.

In a wireless communications network, the presence of a wireless local area network in a cell segment is determined. An identifier of the wireless local area network in the cell segment is sent to at least one mobile station in the cell segment to enable the at least one mobile station to hand off to the wireless local area network. Optionally, information identifying geographic boundaries of cell segments and the wireless local area network can be sent to the at least one mobile station.

A method and apparatus for transmitting a measurement report in a wireless communication system are disclosed. The method for transmitting a measurement report at a UE in the wireless communication system includes measuring received strengths and reception frequencies of first and second signals, and transmitting a measurement report including a frequency offset between the first and second signals, if the received strength of the second signal is equal to or larger than a predetermined threshold. The frequency offset is used to support cooperative transmission of transmission points transmitting the first and second signals.
