A Fresnel lens array is provided in which the vertical part of a lens element is replaced by a tilted surface designed to focus impinging light into the focal point of an adjacent lens in the array. Since the new surface forms an angle with the lens plane that is shallower than the vertical step, such a lens element configuration may ease the molding of the lens array in glass type materials. The configuration is not limited to cylindrical arrays, since another array with lens elements perpendicular to the first lens array may be molded on the other side of the lens sheet, resulting in an array of point focusing lenses. Furthermore, by placing mirrors at the edges of the lens array (or at the edge of a single lens thereof) with surfaces perpendicular to the lens plane, the edge light rays may be redirected back to the said focal point(s). In particular, single circular lenses, with lens element cross-sections similar to the one described above and with a vertical mirror at the edge, will also concentrate collimated light to the focal point.

The apparatus comprises a housing (10), and a double-sided piston (12) subject to the forces brought about by the variations in pressure of the surrounding fluid and by a restoring force such as a spring (20) or other mechanism. The emergence of mutations in tyrosine kinases following treatment of cancer patients with molecular-targeted therapy represents a major mechanism of acquired drug resistance. Here, we describe a mutation in the serpentine receptor, Smoothened (SMO), which results in resistance to a Hedgehog (Hh) pathway inhibitor in medulloblastoma. A debris receptacle is removably attachable to an edge or lip of a work surface. A debris receiving volume defined by a bottom surface and a rear panel is disposed between lower clamp arms that extend under a work surface and are biased toward upper clamp arms that extend over the work surface. Springs disposed within concentric columns that are coupled to the lower and upper clamp arms provide a biasing force, which urges the lower clamp arms toward the upper clamp arms to removably secure the debris receptacle to the edge of the work surface. The debris receptacle is thus mounted to receive debris swept from the work surface through a gap defined between the rear panel and the edge of the work surface.

A printer has a printer unit including a recording head and automatic cutter, and an adhesive transfer unit disposed downstream from the automatic cutter. The adhesive transfer unit has a transfer mechanism that supplies adhesive tape and transfers adhesive to recording paper at a transfer position. When a paper detector disposed upstream from the transfer position detects recording paper, the control unit of the printer causes the pressure mechanism to alternately form the contact state pressing the recording paper to the adhesive tape, and the non-contact state in which the recording paper is separated from the adhesive tape. Adhesive is transferred to the recording paper passing the transfer position while this contact operation repeats intermittently.

A steerable trailer provides the ability to offset the center line of the trailer to the tow vehicle with a swivel tongue and pivoting axles. The steerable trailer can alter the turning radius of the trailer and improve the turning and backing of the trailer. Typically, a trailer moves relative to the tow vehicle. The steerable trailer allows a user to control the trailer steering independently from the tow vehicle and adds up to two more points to steer more accurately and safely in close areas, for example. The swiveling tongue and pivoting axles can be used independently or together to position the trailer safely in different radii.

A method and system for changing a running mode when a battery discharge of a hybrid vehicle is limited include detecting each state of the drive motor and the battery, determining whether a need for a change to a running mode in which an operation of the engine is requested when the drive motor operates and the battery discharge is limited. A starting motor is operated first with an available power of the battery when the change to the running mode is requested. The engine is controlled so that the starting motor may perform a charging operation, for synchronization of an engine clutch, and for driving the drive motor with available power of the battery when the engine has been started by the starting motor.
