Abstract: A tubular LED lamp to be used with an external electronic power controlling device which is adapted to provide an input voltage to the lamp, comprising: a LED unit; a driving circuit for the LED unit; and a safety detection circuit adapted to detect whether the tubular LED lamp is correctly connected to an external lamp fixture; characterized in that further comprising: a holding current providing circuit adapted to provide a holding current through the electronic controlling device so as to maintain the electronic controlling device to be conductive; and a controlling circuit adapted to synchronize the safety detection circuit with the holding current providing circuit such that the safety detection circuit is adapted to carry out the detection when the hold current providing circuit is adapted to provide the holding current and the electronic controlling device is conductive; wherein the controlling circuit is adapted to deactivate the holding current providing circuit and the safety detection circuit after the detection in one cycle of the input voltage, and re-activate and deactivate them in a later cycle.

Abstract: A tubular solid state lighting device has a pin safety circuit electrically connected to connection pins of the one end. The pin safety circuit comprises two protection components, of different types. In one set of examples, there is an electrically controlled isolation switch and an electronic switch which functions as a high voltage isolation barrier. The switch provides full galvanic contact separation, whereas the isolation barrier provides current protection if the isolation switch is not functional. In another set of examples, there is a mechanically controlled isolation switch and an electrical or electronic isolation barrier. This provides two levels of protection, but requiring only a single manual operation by the installer of the lighting device. It avoids end-of-life protection circuitry being triggered during the installation of the lighting device.

Abstract: A retrofit lamp is for use with a fluorescence lighting ballast. The retrofit lamp comprises a filament emulation circuit. A detection circuit detects (at least) if a connected ballast is an instant start electronic ballast or an electromagnetic ballast by detecting a potentially existing heating voltage across the filament emulation circuit. In response, an LED arrangement may be connected in a series configuration (for an instant start electronic ballast) or in a parallel configuration (for an electromagnetic ballast). In this way, the output power is managed to ensure efficient operation. A different pin safety function may also be provided in the different configurations.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure involve a detection circuit for a tube and a tube including the detection circuit. The detection circuit comprises: impedance connected between two ends of a tube; a voltage detector configured to detect voltage on the impedance; a voltage threshold circuit configured to provide a voltage threshold; a first control circuit configured to compare voltage across the two ends of the tube to the voltage threshold, and to control the voltage detector to detect only when the voltage across the two ends of the tube is smaller than the voltage threshold. By using the detection circuit of the present disclosure, it can detect whether a human body contacts the tube under protection state, to avoid of the risk of getting an electrical shock.

Abstract: A circuit board arrangement assembled by at least a first and a second circuit boards, each circuit board comprising: a portion of a circuit; and a first and a second electrical terminals to be electrically connected to a respective first and a second electrical terminals of the other circuit board of the first and the second circuit boards, so as to couple the portions of the circuit of the first and the second circuit boards, wherein the first and second electrical terminals on the circuit board are coupled with each other via the portion of the circuit on the other circuit board of the first and the second circuit boards, at least one board further comprising: a voltage suppression element (TSS1, TSS2) in the board connected across the first and second electrical terminals of the board, said voltage suppression element (TSS1, TSS2) is adapted to become conductive when a voltage thereacross reaches a threshold; characterized in that the portion of the circuit comprising at least one LED, and said LED (LED1) of the first circuit board (B1) and said LED (LED4) of the second circuit board (B2) are forwarded in the same direction and to be series connected between a first interconnection (LED+) of the first electrical terminals of the first and the second circuit boards and a second interconnection (LED−) of the second electrical terminal of the first and the second circuit boards. The voltage suppression element is able to prevent overvoltage/arcing due to a disconnection of the series connection of the LEDs of the first and second circuit boards, as well as a disconnection of a interconnection of first terminals, and a interconnection of the second terminals.
