    Abstract: A water-repellent textile is produce by applying to a textile a solution of Al13 nanoclusters or aluminum nitrate or hydrates of aluminum nitrate in a solvent to produce a wetted textile; and photo-annealing the wetted textile with ultraviolet light having a wavelength in the range of 180 nm to 260 nm to produce an Al2O3 coating on fibers of the textile. The textile may be, for example, cotton, polyester, wool, nylon, chiffon, nubuck, leather, burlap, silk, denim, or any combination thereof. Preferably, the solvent is a solubilizing organic solvent, pure water, or a miscible organic/water solvent mixture.

    Abstract: The deodorant of the present invention is characterized in that the deodorant consists of a crystalline zinc oxide in which zinc oxide and aluminum oxide are composited, and a molar ratio (ZnO/Al2O3) of the zinc oxide to the aluminum oxide is in a range from 40 to 80. The deodorant has a high deodorizing effect against sulfur gases and acidic gases. A preferable average particle size of the deodorant is 0.2 to 15 μm.

    Abstract: An electrically conductive yarn (1) includes a plurality of individual filaments (2) and an electrically conductive portion (3) that covers surface of the individual filaments (2). The electrically conductive portion (3) contains a carbon-based material, in particular carbon nanotubes, a binder, and a metal. The electrically conductive portion (3) has a network structure in which the carbon nanotubes are connected to one another and is constituted such that the metal is interspersed within the network structure. The electrically conductive portion (3) may further contain Al2O3.
