Abstract: A method for manufacturing a part for an aircraft seat includes positioning a heating frame around a stacked structure, locally heating an edge of the stacked structure using a heating frame, externally heating the entire stacked structure, positioning the stacked structure inside a thermoforming mould provided with cutting punches, closing the thermoforming mould and applying a vacuum to the interior of the thermoforming mould, to simultaneously perform, during the same step of shaping the first cover and the second cover, a step of heat sealing an edge of the first cover to an edge of the second cover, bonding the first cover and the second cover to the foam core, and cutting the stacked structure along the circumference thereof using cutting punches.

Abstract: A multilayer film having enhanced toughness and optical properties is provided. The multilayer film includes a base layer, an outer layer, and a tie layer between the base layer and the outer layer. The multilayer film can also include additional layers. Methods for making such multilayer films are also provided. Multilayer films according to the present invention are particularly useful packaging applications where rupture resistance and high clarity are desirable.

Abstract: An airbag chute-integrated crash pad assembly includes: a main core that includes a door portion expanding when an airbag expands, and a cover portion mounted on a dash board. In particular, the main core is formed with a reinforcement portion extending downward from a lower surface of the cover portion, and the door portion and the cover portion are separated by a hinge groove that is formed in a lower surface of the main core and forms an expansion line. The reinforcement portion is combined with an airbag accommodation body that accommodates a passenger airbag (PAB). Thus, process optimization can be realized by omitting a process of machining a score and fusing a PAB chute, and also a problem of damage to the PAB chute can be solved.

Abstract: Physical foaming a footwear component with a single-phase solution of a polymeric composition and a supercritical fluid is provided. The method include temperature conditioning a mold and then engaging the mold with a robot that conveys the mold to a press. At the press a gas counter pressure is applied to a cavity of the mold before injecting a single-phase solution of a polymeric composition and a supercritical fluid into the cavity of the mold. The process continues with releasing the gas counter pressure from the cavity of the mold and then removing the footwear component from the cavity of the mold. The parameters of the method are configured for the formation of the footwear component in an automated manner.

Abstract: A skate (e.g., an ice skate) for a skater (e.g., a hockey player). The skate comprises a skate boot for receiving a foot of the skater and a skating device (e.g., a blade and a blade holder) disposed beneath the skate boot to engage a skating surface (e.g., ice). At least part of the skate boot and optionally at least part of one or more other components (e.g., the skating device) may be constructed from one or more materials (e.g., foams) molded by flowing in molding equipment during a molding process (e.g., injection molding or casting). This may allow the skate (or other footwear) to have useful performance characteristics (e.g., reduced weight, proper fit and comfort, etc.) while being more cost-effectively manufactured. Other articles of footwear are also provided.

Abstract: A method of forming a polymeric foam material is provided and includes providing a precursor material having a first thickness, the precursor material being an open-cell foam material and applying a uniaxial compressive force to the precursor material to compress the precursor material to a second thickness, the compressive force causing a cell structure of the precursor material to collapse. The method also includes heating the precursor material at a molding temperature for a first time period while the compressive force is applied, the first time period being sufficient to heat the precursor material to a softening temperature, removing the compressive force from the precursor material, and maintaining the cell structure of the precursor material in a collapsed state.

Abstract: Methods for manufacturing articles of footwear are provided. In various aspects, the methods comprise utilizing additive manufacturing methods with foam particles. In some aspects, the additive manufacturing methods comprise increasing the temperature of a plurality of foam particles with actinic radiation under conditions effective to fuse a portion of the plurality of foam particles comprising one or more thermoplastic elastomers. Increasing the temperature of the foam particles can be carried out for one or multiple iterations. The disclosed methods can be used to manufacturer articles with sub-regions that exhibit differing degrees of fusion between the foam particles, thereby resulting in sub-regions with different properties such as density, resilience, and/or flexural modulus. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present disclosure.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods of three-dimensional printing, including iteratively applying individual build material layers of polyamide particles and selectively applying a fusing agent onto the individual build material layers to form individually patterned object layers. The fusing agent can include water and a radiation absorber. The method can also include selectively applying a pore-promoting agent onto the individual build material layers at some or all of the individually pattered object layers to form a pore-generating region, and iteratively exposing the individual build material layers to electromagnetic energy to generate molten polymer from polyamide particles in contact with the radiation absorber that upon cooling forms fused polymer body. A material used to form the fused polymer body without pores can exhibit a material dielectric permittivity, and the fused polymer body at a location that includes the pores can exhibit a decreased dielectric permittivity.
