Abstract:
A mobile device application allows a user to participate in a collaborative discussion. The collaborative discussion may allow multiple users to collaborate in a formatted discussion on a variety of topics. The collaborative discussion may be associated with media content provided through a media reader application. A user may act as an administrator to create a collaborate discussion and configure parameters or the collaborative discussion via the user's mobile device. A user may access the media content through the media reader application and provide input to the collaborative discussion in real time. The media may include an electronic book, magazine, article or other media content. The input received from the user may include a comment, vote, brainstorm content, various collaborative engagement structures or other data. The collaborative discussion may be accessed through a mobile device application or a network browser.
Abstract:
The present invention helps generate connected communities of students and educators through access to an increased pool of granular learning resources that benefit from standardization of formats for creating and utilizing individual discussions on individual topics. The present invention also circumvents the complexity of existing repository systems by creating a standard platform format. Because this format is de facto implemented for any educator using the platform, standardized question types (e.g., discussion types or topic types) become functionally interchangeable notwithstanding any particular individuals utilizing the invention. The interchangeability of individual topics allows for creation of a global “topic library,” which may be made available to any educator using the system. This global topic library contains the standardized questions or discussion topics thereby allowing for quick review, selection, and incorporation into the individual teaching environment of any teacher utilizing the invention.

Abstract:
Flexibility with respect to access and enjoyment of time shifted content in a content distribution network is provided, especially with regard to content not present on a DVR. A DVR accesses a network storage device over a network for particular portions of content not available on the DVR and the network storage device provides those missing portions. The user may then rewind and playback not only already locally stored content but also that content provided by the storage device. Content can be provided through faster-than-real-time transmissions such that the content is made available to the DVR prior to it being needed for rewind functionality or playback.
Abstract:
A compact reflector lamp (1) has a reflector (3) which is formed from a reflective substrate material which closely surrounds a lamp vessel section and the lamp neck (6) and in the process is supported on the lamp stem (7).
Abstract:
In a reflective film display device, a platform has a covered stationary electrode mounted thereon, which holds a plurality of movable cantilevers in substantially a plane, and fixing a wiring board. The platform includes an aligning slit for accurately connecting a conducting line on the wiring board to the stationary electrode and to the movable cantilever that can be elastically bent and a through-hole for aligning the position of the platform with another platform. The cantilever having a tab at its free end is electrically separated from the stationary electrode on the platform and a gap is provided between the free end of the cantilever and the stationary electrode. A plurality of platforms are stacked one upon the other by utilizing the through-holes of the platforms so as to allow the tabs to be arranged to form a grid.

Abstract:
A system and method for time-shifted viewing of broadcast television programs is disclosed. Simultaneous recording and playback are provided by using buffer storage as the source and destination of compressed or uncompressed digital video/audio programs. Full VCR-like control is provided for all playback within the buffer storage. Playback and control of recorded programs may be initiated by the user at any time after initiation of the broadcast program with simultaneous continuous recording of the ongoing live broadcast. Larger archival storage and removable is also provided for storing and building a library of programs. Viewer playback control data may be stored as part of the program or used as edit points prior to archival. Numerous options are provided for features such as continuous automatic recording in a circular buffer fashion, program archival editing, Internet interfaces, multiple-channel recording and more.
