Abstract: Method, apparatus and systems for object tracking are disclosed. In one example, a system for tracking a plurality of objects in a venue is disclosed. The system comprises a transmitter configured for transmitting a series of probe signals in a broadcasting manner through a wireless multipath channel, wherein the wireless multipath channel is impacted by a movement of at least one of the plurality of objects in the venue; and a plurality of heterogeneous target wireless receivers each of which is associated with an object of the plurality of objects in the venue. Each of the plurality of heterogeneous target wireless receivers is configured for: receiving the series of probe signals through the wireless multipath channel between the heterogeneous target wireless receiver and the transmitter, obtaining at least one time series of channel information (TSCI) of the wireless multipath channel based on the series of probe signals received by the heterogeneous target wireless receiver, and tracking the object associated with the heterogeneous target wireless receiver based on the at least one TSCI.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus and systems for monitoring an object expression are described. In one example, a described apparatus in a venue comprises a receiver and a processor. The receiver is configured for: receiving a wireless signal from a transmitter through a wireless multipath channel that is impacted by an expression of an object in the venue, wherein the object has at least one movable part and is expressed in the expression with respect to a setup in the venue; and obtaining a time series of channel information (TSCI) of the wireless multipath channel based on the wireless signal received by the receiver. The processor is configured for computing information associated with the object based at least partially on the TSCI obtained when the object is expressed in the expression, and performing, based on the information associated with the object, a task associated with at least one of the object and the venue.

Abstract: Apparatus, systems and methods for detecting and monitoring fall-down actions and other transient motions are disclosed. In one example, a system for monitoring a transient motion in a venue is disclosed. The system comprises a transmitter, a receiver, and a transient motion monitor. The transmitter is located at a first position in the venue for transmitting a wireless signal through a wireless multipath channel impacted by the transient motion of an object in the venue. The receiver is located at a second position in the venue for: receiving the wireless signal through the wireless multipath channel, and obtaining a time series of channel information (CI) of the wireless multipath channel based on the wireless signal. The transient motion monitor is configured for: monitoring the transient motion based on the time series of CI, and triggering a response action based on the monitored transient motion.

Abstract: The present teaching relates to wireless power transmission based on power waveforming. In one example, an apparatus for wireless power transmission is disclosed. The apparatus comprises: at least one antenna configured for receiving at least one wireless signal from a receiver, via a multipath channel between the apparatus and the receiver; and at least one processor configured for estimating at least one channel state information (CSI) of the multipath channel based on the at least one wireless signal, determining a power transmission waveform based on the at least one CSI, and calculating a power transfer signal based on the power transmission waveform and a reference signal. The at least one antenna is further configured for wirelessly transmitting the power transfer signal to the receiver.

Abstract: A time-reversal wireless system comprising a first wireless transceiver of a time-reversal client, one or more second wireless transceiver and/or a time-reversal client with the first wireless transceiver. The first wireless transceiver of the time-reversal client is wirelessly coupled to the one or more second wireless transceiver through a wireless broadband multipath channel associated with a space. The time-reversal client contains the first wireless transceiver. The time-reversal client also contains a processor and a memory configured to obtain a set of channel state information (CSI) in a channel probing phase, and/or to obtain a set of location-specific signatures based on the set of CSI and/or a time reversal operation in a channel probing phase. The set of CSI is captured when one or more probing signal is sent either from the first wireless transceiver to each of the at least one second wireless transceiver, or from each of the at least one second wireless transceiver to the first wireless transceiver, through the wireless broadband multipath channel associated with the space. A channel passband with bandwidth W0 is associated with the wireless broadband multipath channel. A first passband with bandwidth W1 is associated with the first wireless transceiver. The W1 is not larger than W0 such that the first passband is part of the channel passband. One or more second passband is associated with the one or more second wireless transceiver such that a bandwidth W2 associated with each of the one or more second passband is not larger than W1 such that the each of the one or more second passband is part of the first passband. Each of the set of CSI include a channel impulse response, a channel frequency response, and/or another channel state data of the wireless broadband multipath channel.

The time reversal client comprises a processor, a memory communicatively coupled with the processor, and a set of instructions, when executed by the processor based on the memory, that cause the time reversal client to perform the following steps: communicatively coupling with a time reversal server through a network, obtaining a set of channel state information (CSI), wherein the set of CSI is captured when at least one probing signal is sent from the wireless transmitter to the wireless receiver through a wireless multipath channel associated with a space, and causing the set of CSI to be sent to the time reversal server through the network.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus and systems for detecting and monitoring vital signs and other periodic motions of an object are disclosed. In one example, a system for monitoring object motion in a venue is disclosed. The system comprises a transmitter, a receiver, and a vital sign estimator. The transmitter is located at a first position in the venue and configured for transmitting a wireless signal through a wireless multipath channel impacted by a pseudo-periodic motion of an object in the venue. The receiver is located at a second position in the venue and configured for: receiving the wireless signal through the wireless multipath channel impacted by the pseudo-periodic motion of the object in the venue, and obtaining at least one time series of channel information (TSCI) of the wireless multipath channel based on the wireless signal. The vital sign estimator is configured for: determining that at least one portion of the at least one TSCI in a current sliding time window is associated with the pseudo-periodic motion of the object in the venue, and computing a current characteristics related to the pseudo-periodic motion of the object in the current sliding time window based on at least one of: the at least one portion of the at least one TSCI in the current sliding time window, at least one portion of the at least one TSCI in a past sliding time window, and a past characteristics related to the pseudo-periodic motion of the object in the past sliding time window.

Abstract: An apparatus for detecting events includes a processor and a storage device storing instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to train a classifier for classifying channel state information (CSI) and detecting an event based on the classification of the CSI obtained during a monitoring phase. The training of the classifier includes: for each of the known events to be detected, during a time period in which the known event occurs in a venue, obtain training CSI of a wireless multipath channel between a wireless transmitter and a wireless receiver in the venue, in which the training CSI is derived from one or more probing signals sent from the transmitter through the wireless multipath channel to the receiver, and train the classifier based on the known events and the training CSI associated with each of the events.
