Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for network slice selection and/or reselection. A WTRU may receive updated assistance information for network slice selection and/or reselection. The WTRU may apply local policies to determine when to use the updated assistance information to access a network slice. The WTRU may determine whether to contact an existing network slice function or a new network slice function to establish a connection to a network slice. Based on the determination, the WTRU may transmit different information to the network. The network slice selection and/or reselection may be initiated by a WTRU or by a network.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are provided for a network control node for connecting a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to a network slice in a network. The network control node may receive service information associated with a service being requested by the WTRU, wherein the service information comprises one or more of a service class, a quality of service (QoS) requirement, or a mobility characteristic. The network control node may determine slice information associated with a plurality of network slices, wherein the slice information comprises one or more of an identifier of the network slice, priority of the network slice, a service class served by the network slice, a target device class, a QoS target, mobility support, security service, charging information, and/or performance information. The network control node may determine subscriber information for the WTRU. The network control node may select at least a first network slice of the plurality of network slices to serve the WTRU, wherein the network control node selects the first network slice based on the service information, the slice information associated with the first network slice, and the subscriber information for the WTRU. The network control node may determine whether the network control node or another network control node should service the WTRU for accessing the first network slice. On condition that the network control node determines that the network control node should service the WTRU for accessing the first network slice, the network control node may provide at least one network service associated with the first network slice to the WTRU. Or, on condition that the network control node determines that the another network control node should service the WTRU for accessing the first network slice, the network control node may send a request to the another network control node that indicates that the another network control node should service the WTRU for accessing the first network slice.

Abstract: Embodiments include methods and apparatuses for providing access to a network slice in a communication system. In an embodiment, a network server that implements a Control Plane (CP) Network Function (NF) may receive a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message from a wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU). The NAS message comprises a Mobility Management (MM) message for registration and a Session Management (SM) messages for a specific service provided by the network slice. After selecting the network slice, the network server may transmit the SM message to another CP NF in the network slice to establish a communication link between the WTRU and the network slice.

Abstract: A system and apparatus are disclosed herein for vehicle to everything (V2X) wireless communication. A V2X wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive a vehicle to everything (V2X) message including configuration information and a road side unit (RSU) address. The WTRU may then transmit a message to the RSU according to the configuration information including multimedia broadcast multicast services (MBMS) data. The configuration information may include a MBMS service descriptor. One or more of the V2X messages may include priority information, WTRU type information, or both.

Abstract: A method and a system are disclosed for providing session continuity in a 5G system. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may receive, from a session management function (SMF), a first Non-Access Stratum (NAS) message indicating a Packet Data Unit (PDU) session re-establishment. Upon receiving the first NAS message, the WTRU may determine an old PDU session ID based on the NAS message and generate a new PDU session ID. The WTRU may transmit a second NAS message indicating a PDU session establishment request. The second NAS message may include the old and new PDU session IDs. Upon receiving the PDU session establishment request, the SMF may determine that the old PDU session ID is associated with an existing PDU session for which the PDU session re-establishment is requested. The SMF may also determine that the new PDU session ID is associated with a new PDU session to be established.

Abstract: A WTRU may initiate access for a PDU session over multiple access networks. The WTRU may register with two or more access networks. For example, the WTRU may register with a 3GPP access network (e.g., LTE Advanced) and a non-3GPP access network (e.g., Wi-Fi). The WTRU may determine to request a multi-access PDU session for a (e.g., at least one) PDU session. A multi-access PDU session may correspond to a PDU session where the WTRU communicates one or more PDUs associated with the PDU session over the 3GPP access network and one or more PDUs associated with the PDU session over the non-3GPP access network. The WTRU may receive a confirmation message indicating that a multi-access PDU session has been established. The WTRU may send uplink data over the 3GPP access network and the non-3GPP access network, e.g., in accordance with the established multi-access PDU session.

Abstract: A system and apparatus for addressing the different types of mobility of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in a network. A radio access network (RAN) may send a request for configuration information to a gateway device including a device ID of a WTRU, a service ID, and a RAN address. Once the RAN receives configuration information from the gateway device including a forwarding table, the RAN may be prepared to receive non-IP data from a WTRU including a routing tag. The routing tag may be based on the device ID of a WTRU and service ID. The RAN may transmit the non-IP data received from the WTRU to the gateway device over a routing path based on the routing tag and a forwarding table where the non-IP data is forwarded on to its detention, such as another WTRU or an Application Server.
