    Abstract: A method of monitoring an electrical system having a plurality of electrical loads may include operating the plurality of electrical loads, obtaining a combined power profile for the plurality of electrical loads, decomposing the combined power profile into individual electrical load profiles from the combined power profile, and controlling operation of one or more electrical loads of the plurality of electrical devices according to the individual electrical load profile of the one or more electrical loads. Decomposing the combined power profile may include applying multi-dimensional event decomposition to the combined power profile to identify and disaggregate the combined power profile into the individual electrical load profiles. Decomposing the combined power profile may include detecting power consumption events of the plurality of electrical loads. Decomposing the combined power profile may include classifying the detected power consumption events.

    Abstract: Power grid management systems and methods include determining a power reference, and sending a first message from a first controller to each of a plurality of second controllers based on the power reference. Each of the plurality of second controllers is configured to control a plurality of associated distributed energy resources (DERs). Energy usage of the associated DERs is modified by each of the plurality of second controllers based on the first message. Each of the second controllers sends feedback data to the first controller message based on the modified energy usage of the associated DERs. The feedback data is aggregated by the first controller, and the aggregated feedback data is compared to the power reference. The first controller sends a second message to each of the plurality of second controllers based on the comparison.

    Abstract: Electrically connecting a first node of a first power grid to a second node of a second power grid includes: determining a phase angle of at least one phase of an AC voltage at the first node in the first power grid; determining a phase angle of at least one phase of an AC voltage at the second node in the second power grid; determining a phase angle metric based on comparing the phase angle of the AC voltage in the first power grid to the phase angle of the AC voltage in the second power grid; comparing the phase angle metric to a phase angle threshold; and if the phase angle metric is equal to or exceeds the phase angle threshold, controlling a dispatchable energy source in the first power grid in a P-Q control mode to adjust the phase angle of at least one phase of the AC voltage at the first node.
