Abstract: The present invention relates to a pressure relief element (11) to be used as an overpressure safety means in devices where a gaseous medium must be rapidly released in case of overpressure, wherein the pressure relief element (11) has at least one notch (9) which is designed as a predetermined breaking point where the pressure relief element (11) breaks at a certain level of overpressure, thereby irreversibly opening an exhaust path for the gaseous medium. The present invention also relates to a pressure relief device of an electrochemical battery, comprising such a pressure relief element and a battery comprising such a pressure relief device.

Abstract: A battery module includes a housing and a base of the housing. The base includes at least two opposing partition support walls, a first external wall, and a second external wall that is substantially perpendicular to the first external wall. The base also includes two or more partitions extending between the at least two opposing partition support walls to define compartments within the base, wherein each of the two or more partitions extend in alignment with the first external wall and transverse to the second external wall. Further, each of the two or more partitions is coupled to at least one of the at least two opposing partition support walls via a corresponding movable connection configured to be movable between a first position angled away from the first external wall, and a second position angled toward the first external wall.

Abstract: A lithium ion (Li-ion) battery module includes a module terminal configured to electrically couple the Li-ion battery module to an electrical connector of an external load. The module terminal includes a conductive component and a sealing shim secured to the conductive component, the sealing shim being formed from a polymeric material. The Li-ion battery module includes a housing containing a plurality of Li-ion battery cells and having an opening through which the conductive component of the module terminal at least partially protrudes. The sealing shim of the module terminal is directly secured to the housing and forms a seal isolating an interior of the housing from the external environment.

Abstract: An energy storage module comprising a plurality of electrochemical cells for storing electric energy and comprising at least one contacting device for electrically contacting the plurality of electrochemical cells. Each of the electrochemical cells has a first flat connection lug for contacting a first electrode of the respective electrochemical cell and a second flat connection lug for contacting a second electrode of the respective electrochemical cell. The electrochemical cells are arranged in a stacked formation and form a cell pack such that the first and second flat connection lugs extend outwards from two opposing sides of the cell pack in an at least substantially perpendicular manner. According to the invention, the at least one contacting device is substantially comb-shaped in particular and has a plurality of teeth which are formed and arranged such that a first or second connection lug is or can be received between two adjacent teeth.
