Abstract: Systems and methods for responding to an abnormal event in a region monitored by a security system are provided. Such systems and methods can include a cloud server periodically receiving a heartbeat signal from the security system, the cloud server receiving a notification signal of an occurrence of the abnormal event in the region, and responsive to failing to receive the heartbeat signal after receiving the notification signal of the occurrence of the abnormal event, the cloud server transmitting an alarm to a central monitoring station.

Such systems and methods can include a central system receiving a notification of a suspicious incident detected at the location and current data related to the suspicious incident from the smart home system, the central station analyzing the current data to confirm or reject the suspicious incident, when the central system confirms the suspicious incident, the central station determining whether the current data is indicative of a potential threat, and when the central station determines that the current data is indicative of the potential threat, the central station storing the current data for future use and initiating a security action to alleviate the potential threat.

Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically activating self-test devices of sensors of a security system are provided. Such systems and methods can include a self-test monitoring device that can identify a test triggering event and, responsive thereto, activate the self-test devices of the sensors and determine whether each of the sensors passes or fails a respective self-test associated with its self-test devices. In some embodiments, when any of the sensors fails its respective self-test, the self-test monitoring device can identify one or more notification devices based on a type of the test triggering event and transmit a self-test failure report to the one or more notification devices.
