    Abstract: A system and method implements communications between a TV operator's infrastructure and set-top boxes (STBs) through a TV operator's infrastructure, wherein the infrastructure includes at least one Conditional Access System (CAS), a messaging engine and a Set Top Box (STB), the STB including a unique identification value. The method comprises receiving a structured message in the messaging engine; computing a stream out of multiple received structured messages by the messaging engine and sending to the multiplexor; including the stream of structured messages in a broadcasted signal transmitted through the TV operator's infrastructure; receiving the broadcasted signal by the STB and extracting a structured message; and comparing addressing information in the extracted structured message with a unique identification of the STB. Messages directed to the STB can be displayed.

    Abstract: A system and method provide for installation and setup of a set-top box (STB) in a Digital TV network includes a mobile device running a mobile application, an operator application, and a display configured to display video from the STB. A status of the STB is determined and encoded into an optically scannable graphic displayed by the display. The optically scannable graphic is scanned with an optical device in communication with the mobile device and the status of the STB is decoded. The status of the STB is transmitted to the operator application compared with an acceptance criteria.

    Abstract: A method for updating firmware of cable modems optimizing management resources in a network comprising a web application, network collector, more than one cable modem, one or more servers. The method includes the web application receiving an update firmware policy, the policy defined by a list of cable modems to have their firmware updated, a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) pointing to a file within a server in the network, and the web application adding a policy with this information to a policies table. The network collector polls a database engine for a new policy and computing a list of cable modems to have their firmware updated, and the network collector sends a command to a cable modem to update to a new firmware, wherein the new firmware is specified by the URI.

    Abstract: A system and method for detecting fraud in a network is disclosed. The network includes cable modems, a network collector, cable modem termination systems (CMTS), and a network data converger. The network collector scans a first cable modem and receives and sends to the network data converger device identification for the first modem and an address of a first CMTS connected to the first cable modem. The network collector adds this information to a devices inventory. The network collector scans a second cable modem and receives and sends to the network data converger device identification and an address of a second CMTS connected to the second cable modem. The network data converger compares this information to the information in the devices inventory and may determine fraud based on the comparison.
