Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method for mounting a storage disc. The method includes receiving data stored at a location on the storage disc. The location on the storage disc used for providing a structure of the storage disc as a result of a previous recording on the storage disc. Then, the method includes determining a medium type based on a parameter in the structure that is indicative of the medium type.
