Abstract: A device for gathering vital sign and other heath indicator data. The device is constructed to register with a person’s anatomical structure in a predictable fashion, and to include integrated sensors positioned to register with specific anatomical portions of the person. Accordingly, relevant data and assessment may be performed passively, e.g., during physical contact/engagement of the patient with the sensors of the device, which may be for, example, a chair or other piece of furniture in which the patient may sit. The device may analyze gathered sensor data and draw clinical assessment conclusions. Data analysis may be done at the device, or remotely. Vital sign/data and/or assessment conclusions may be displayed to the caregiver only, e.g., via a display device or via an EHR or other computing system receiving data from the device. A separate display screen may display information to the patient for entertainment or instructive purposes.

Abstract: A wheelchair having a tiltable occupant-support assembly, a powered drive system for adjusting the degree of tilt, and a control system for varying the degree of tilt in a programmatic automated fashion. The wheelchair is programmed or programmable to vary the degree of tilt, and therefore the wheelchair's occupant, automatedly. The wheelchair may provide pre-set ranges of seating angles and durations of time at each angle of tilt. The wheelchair thereby allows for reliable off-loading of the occupant's weight from pressure points, to avoid pressure ulcers, and does so programmatically so as to reduce the burden on healthcare staff and professionals while also ensuring adherence with prescribed tilting schedules.

Abstract: Each of a set of wearable sensor bands includes a sensor for collecting movement data. The data is analyzed, from one band or both bands in combination, to determine whether ambulation of the wearer is imminent. The data may be analyzed by a data processor in a band or in a remote computing device. When the data indicates that ambulation is imminent, a control signal is used to provide an intervention to prevent the ambulation, and thereby to avoid a possible fall. The control signal may be transmitted to a band to drive an on-band feedback device to provide an alert to the wearer, or may be transmitted to a feedback device separate from the bands, e.g., a sign or speaker mounted in a hospital, to provide an alert to the wearer or the wearer's caregiver, or may be transmitted to a computing or other device monitored by a caregiver.

Abstract: A smart lighting device, and a system including one or more smart lighting devices, that are well-suited for use in at-home setting. The devices may be configured as night lights, and can provide continuous monitoring of a person in the at-home setting and provide alerts to the person of potential fall risk areas in the home. Further, the devices may provide alerts to others (other designated persons/organizations), e.g., in the event of a fall or fall risk. Further, the devices may recognize unknown persons in the home, and provide alerts to others. The system may be configured to route these alerts to according to user preference and/or a severity of the detected situation/alert.

Abstract: A device captures, at the time of authentication to a secured session, secondary authentication data of the user that has authenticated using primary authentication credentials. Then, during the session, the system is caused to re-authenticate the user using the secondary authentication credentials (such as original and current user's face images). The system actively monitors the face visible to a camera of the computing device. The system compares the current face to the face image captured at the time of authentication. If the system fails to detect the same face captured initially at the time of authentication, then the system automatedly ends or otherwise locks the session to secure that session from an unauthorized user. Accordingly, the system does not rely merely upon initial authentication for an entire session, but rather reauthenticates the user during a single session in order for the session to be permitted to continue.

Abstract: A system for remote motor and sensory function testing may involve use of patent and clinician computing devices, a patient testing device, and a clinician control device. A Remote Testing System (RTS) may coordinate displays of information among the devices in support of a test. A clinician or the RTS may cause display of instructions for guiding a patient in using the patient testing device. A clinician may receive feedback from the patient's interaction during the test session, or during a later session. The clinician control device may be used to control functioning of the patient testing device, in support of the test. The clinician control device may provide haptic or other feedback during the test session or during a later session. The system may track patient performance across multiple sessions and initiate follow-up test sessions as a result of data gathered in one or more prior test sessions.

Abstract: A system allowing user/system interaction sessions on voice-enabled computing devices (VECDs) to be shifted from a voice-based interface to a non-voice-based (such as a text/web-based) interface. Accordingly, easy and convenient data input, receipt and recognition is provided in a manner that is not likely to frustrate users, that accommodates a broad range of data needs, and/or that avoids confidentiality issues associated with the use of voice input and data security issues associated with the storage of medical/health or other sensitive data. The system recognizes a platform-shifting command via a voice-based interface, gathers any required information (such as a telephone number or e-mail address) for continuing the communications session on another platform, and then sends a text/email/other message including a URL/hyperlink usable to initiate a communications session on a different communications platform and continue a voice-based interaction session on a non-voice-based communications platform.

Abstract: An umbilical arterial catherization device comprising a brace and a dilator. The brace has a body for supporting and stabilizing an umbilical cord end. The body may have resilient foam for grasping the umbilical cord, and may include a strap operable to secure part of the body to itself, after being wrapped around the umbilical cord. The dilator has a hook for engaging an open end of an arterial lumen, and a catch operable to fix the dilator to the brace in a position for dilating the arterial lumen. Both hands may be used to place the dilator while the device serves to stabilize and support the umbilical cord without use of the hands. The device may include a lighting element for illuminating the end of the umbilical cord to aid in visualization of the arterial lumen and facilitate proper placement of the catch within the arterial lumen.

Abstract: A system includes exoskeleton having at least one inflatable bladder. The exoskeleton is made of fabric/flexible materials, and has flexible (deflated) and rigid (inflated) states. The system's pressurization system operates to pressurize and depressurize the bladder(s). A control system includes a sensor operable to gather data to in relation to movement of a wearer of the exoskeleton. A control module is operable to process data gathered from the sensor(s) and provide a control signal to the pressurization system to cause the pressurization system to selectively pressurize or depressurize the bladder(s) as a function of the data. The control system may be configured to inflate the bladder(s) into the rigid state to provide assistive support when sensor data indicates that the wearer is standing/walking, and to deflate the bladder(s) into the flexible state to allow the wearer to sit/lie comfortably when not standing/walking, and thus when support is not needed.
