Each rotating body is capable of contacting a side surface of the medium opposite to a recording surface of the medium on which recording is performed by the recording unit and has a rotation shaft that extends in the intersecting direction. The apparatus further includes a control unit that controls rotation speed of each rotating body individually on the basis of a result of detection by the detection unit.
