A method for scavenging crude petroleum or a refined product thereof present in a contaminated substrate includes treating the contaminated substrate with Pseudomonas taoyuanensis S03 deposited in DSMZ under an accession number DSM 32185, such that the crude petroleum or the refined product thereof is emulsified by Pseudomonas taoyuanensis S03.
