The power control unit does not shift the image processing apparatus to the first power state when the second detecting unit no longer detects the sheet before a lapse of a predetermined period of time after the first detecting unit detects an object. The power control unit shifts the image processing apparatus to the first power state when the second detecting unit detects the sheet before a lapse of the predetermined period of time after the first detecting unit detects an object.
