The method comprises transmitting an index indicating data stream parameters, and transmitting an indication of the number of transmit antennas at the base station, wherein the data stream parameters for 8 transmit antennas are indicated by the index according to a first table, and wherein the data stream parameters for 4 transmit antennas are indicated by the index according to a second table.
