A novel optical compensatory sheet comprising an optically anisotropic layer comprising at lest one liquid crystal compound at least one polymer C, having a weight average molecular weight of not less than 5000 and less than 20000, represented by a formula (1b), and at least one polymer D, having a weight average molecular weight of not less than 20000, represented by a formula (1b), is also disclosed.
