In at least one embodiment, the method includes creating an overview data record containing angiography data relating to a patient; simulating flow conditions in vessels of the patient; determining a strain on the vascular walls with the aid of the simulation; identifying vascular regions, in which the strain on the vascular wall exceeds a threshold value and implementing an imaging examination in at least one of the identified vascular regions.
