The data processing apparatus receives status information based on the state identification information changed by the changing unit from the peripheral apparatus, and a displaying unit displays the information about the state of the peripheral apparatus for a predetermined display time. The changing unit sets a changing cycle of the state identification information to be shorter than the predetermined display time.
