The optical compensation sheet holder includes a frame for holding the optical compensation sheet, and a turning member, which holds the frame turnably on a rotation axis approximately parallel to one of a pair of diagonals of the liquid crystal panel, and is attached to an end edge of an optical system holding case for holding an optical system turnably on a rotation axis perpendicular to the optical compensation sheet.
