According to an embodiment, an electronic device may include: a wireless communication circuit for performing short-range wireless communication with at least one external electronic device; a memory; and a processor operatively connected to the wireless communication circuit and the memory. The processor may perform the short-range wireless communication with the at least one external electronic device via the wireless communication circuit, form a first neighbor awareness networking (NAN) cluster with the at least one external electronic device, on the basis of the short-range wireless communication, transmit a short-range wireless signal to the at least one external electronic device included in the first NAN cluster, and inactivate an NAN cluster merging function of the at least one external electronic device, using the short-range wireless signal.
