A method of a terminal according to an embodiment includes: receiving information on a reference signal set for beam failure detection from a base station; identifying the reference signal set for beam failure detection based on the information; identifying whether a beam failure is detected based on the reference signal set; and in case that the beam failure is detected for the reference signal set, triggering a beam failure recovery procedure.
