The superimposition ratio calculation section calculates, on the basis of an intensity value of the special frame, a superimposition ratio indicating a ratio at which the normal frame and the special frame are superimposed. The superimposition processing section performs a superimposition process of superimposing the normal frame and the special frame on the basis of the superimposition ratio. The present technology is applicable to an image processing apparatus for medical use.
