In various embodiments, an object is stored within a first data storage system resource indicating a dependency on a second data storage system resource, wherein the dependency requires collocation of the first data storage system resource and the second data storage system resource. An action applied to any one of the first data storage system resource and the second data storage system resource may be controlled based on the dependency.
