The base station may encode a wakeup signal so that a preamble of the wakeup signal indicates whether the wakeup signal is relevant to the UE. The UE may select a technique for detecting the wakeup signal based at least in part on a partial, full, or no synchronization. In some aspects, the wakeup signal may be encoded with a system frame number. In some aspects, wakeup signals for guardband/standalone UEs are provided. Numerous other aspects are provided.
