The system comprises a tablet connected to a concession management server, the server being itself linked to an aircraft configuration database, a three-dimensional digital model of the aircraft and a fault database. The element to be inspected is identified using the digital model and the fault is characterized by browsing a predetermined decision tree associated with the element.
