The disclosed head-mounted display system may include (1) a display for displaying computer-generated imagery, (2) a lens, (3) a peripheral wall extending from a back end to a front end, with the back end coupled to the lens and the front end coupled to the display such that the lens, the peripheral wall, and the display together define an enclosure, and (4) a speaker housed by the enclosure.
