The luminous flux adjusting device includes a absorbing element having a transparent pattern including a plurality of repeatedly arranged basic patterns. Each of the basic patterns includes a plurality of transparent regions arranged according to a geometric shape. The geometric shape has a side parallel to the first direction, and a length of the side is less than or equal to the maximum length of the sensor region. The geometric shape has a height in the second direction less than or equal to the maximum width of the sensor region.
